Late Thursday night there was a catch and release operation going on in the house.
Somehow a salamander found its way in, and of course, the cats found it.
I was less concerned about what type it was, and more concerned about getting it safely out of the house without the loss of life or limb. If I'd seen one outside, I would have stopped to take pictures to better identify it later. Most salamanders in the state (country?) are on an endangered list of some sort. I do know it was a dark color, and it may have been a Jefferson Salamander [<link]. Like lizards, salamanders have good purposes because they typically eat bugs.
Random order because Google Photos does not understand chronological
This was a bottle tree, but it is now a bird feeder tree.
I did see my first hummingbird of the year on Monday.
I love hummers. They are so magical!
I love my window birdfeeder!
An Indigo Bunting [<link]!
I was super excited to see it, but remembering when I first saw one in Wisconsin,
I did not scream this time. 😁
This is Peeping Peter (Petra?), the groundhog who has adopted me. S/He lets me get to a few feet of this opening to the tunnel den and will pop head up when I come back from grocery shopping to see if I've brought something for her/him.
I usually have.
Here s/he is on the back door security cam, looking like a cross between a stalker and a flasher.
Black Locust tree that smells wonderful!
Silky Dogwood, and I did not know there was such a thing!
This is a Carolina Wren that looks like it flew so fast it blew apart.
Messing with the order of the photos does my head in. The only way I have found to get around it is by loading them one at a time.
ReplyDeleteLove the wildlife you have visiting.
